SWALtex™ Acoustic
Why choose an acoustic stretch ceiling?
Noise reduction is now standard in public spaces and new buildings.
Homeowners also appreciate how effective this system is in their living spaces
An acoustic stretch ceiling is a fabric ceiling system designed to improve acoustic comfort by absorbing some of the airborne sound waves circulating in a room. Unlike a traditional stretch ceiling or a drywall ceiling, which reflects sound waves, an acoustic stretch ceiling absorbs harmful airborne sound frequencies and reduces reverberation.
In a room without acoustic treatment, sounds bounce off the walls, creating an echo. In acoustics, it is generally estimated that the floor accounts for only 20% of noise pollution and the walls for 30%, while the ceiling alone is responsible for 50%, or even more, depending on the room’s layout.
The acoustic stretch ceiling mitigates these sound reflection issues by absorbing sound reflections (voices, footsteps, clinking cutlery, music, etc.). In rooms where the space is often the largest, the ceiling will certainly need to be addressed. The layout of the noisy room may also require acoustic treatment of the walls, using acoustic stretch walls.
The SWALtex™ Acoustic system combines a micro-perforated stretch ceiling fabric (cold-installed) with an acoustic absorber—of varying thickness and density—concealed behind the stretched fabric to effectively treat noise and echo without compromising the room’s aesthetics. Our acoustic stretch ceiling systems range from 10 mm to 100 mm in depth and feature a smooth, flat surface, allowing for the acoustic treatment of large areas with a monolithic appearance, “wall-to-wall” so to speak.

Noise is a major source of stress and fatigue, whether in the workplace or at home. An environment with poor acoustics can quickly become harmful.
In the workplace, in offices and open-plan spaces, the sounds of conversations, electronic devices, and movement carry and disrupt concentration. This reduces productivity in professional environments. A SWALtex™ Acoustic stretch ceiling reduces these disturbances and minimizes sound reverberation, creating a quieter and more pleasant work environment.
At home, poor acoustics make conversation difficult, reduce the quality of rest, and increase discomfort. Speech becomes less clear, background noise is amplified, and loud sounds echo for longer. Installing an acoustic stretch ceiling creates a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere, ideal for living rooms, family rooms, or bedrooms.
In public spaces, effective acoustic treatment improves the environment for users: clear speech intelligibility is essential in schools, hospitals, and daycare centers. For medical, legal, and HR offices, acoustic stretch ceilings also meet a legal requirement: protecting the confidentiality of conversations with your clients and patients. The SWALtex™ Acoustic stretch ceiling therefore meets a real need: creating spaces where the acoustics promote well-being, concentration, and communication.
The SWALtex™ Acoustic system has been tested in a laboratory (in a reverberation chamber) to measure its ability to absorb the frequency spectrum of sounds. These tests assign a score from 0 to 1 to evaluate the effectiveness of the acoustic composite being tested.
The absorption curve shown here represents the sound absorption coefficient (αw) as a function of sound frequencies, expressed in Hertz (Hz), for one of the SWAL™ acoustic treatments. This coefficient, which ranges from 0 to 1, indicates the ability of our materials to absorb sound waves.
-
A value close to 1 indicates maximum absorption, meaning that sound is completely absorbed and no longer echoes. A value close to 0 indicates that most of the sound is reflected and will continue to travel through the room.
With an αw value of up to 1.00, SWALtex™ Acoustic ensures maximum sound absorption. This overall effectiveness guarantees some of the best acoustic performance on the market. It is no coincidence, in fact, that movie theaters are consistently equipped with acoustic stretch fabrics.

SWALtex Acoustic ceiling combines performance with an unparalleled decorative finish.
The SWALtex™ Acoustic stretch ceiling offers a wide range of customization options and integration possibilities.
Thanks to digital printing on canvas, you can create a unique printed acoustic stretch ceiling that reflects your personal style or your company’s identity. This customization preserves the ceiling’s acoustic performance and transforms the space into something truly exceptional.
The backlighting enhances the stretch ceiling and transforms it into a light source. It provides soft, even lighting, ideal for creating a warm and soothing atmosphere. The color temperature of the LEDs is fully customizable thanks to our bespoke solutions and dynamic white technology.
SWALtex™ Acoustic incorporates essential technical components such as recessed spotlights, ventilation grilles, and access panels. This modular design ensures a fully functional ceiling.
The SWALtex™ Acoustic acoustic ceiling is a multi-layered system. Installation begins by attaching tension profiles around the perimeter of the ceiling area or to existing walls. These profiles form a frame that supports the micro-perforated acoustic fabric.
Before installing the fabric, acoustic batting is installed in the space between the existing structure and the fabric, known as the “plenum.” This plenum is a critical technical space where sound, after passing through the micro-perforated fabric, is “trapped” in the sound-absorbing batting. The batting acts as an attenuator: it prevents reverberation.
The micro-perforated fabric, cold-stretched over the profiles, allows sound waves to pass through to the batting while providing a smooth, attractive surface visible from the room. This three-layer system (plenum with batting, air gap, and fabric) reduces noise across the entire audible frequency range (approximately 500 to 2000 Hz).
Tested in the laboratory, our tensioned acoustic panels offer various performance levels with a minimum thickness ranging from just 1 cm to 10 cm.

The cost of an acoustic ceiling : what you need to know before you start. Performance, design, and durability : a price that makes sense.
The cost of an acoustic ceiling varies depending on several factors. Prices range from €110 to €215 per square meter, including materials and installation, depending on the area to be covered, the choice of fabric, the thickness of the panel, and any selected options such as custom printing, backlighting, or a custom color.
The site configuration will also affect the price based on accessibility and the presence of technical complexities (openings, high ceilings, technical elements, etc.).

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, the SWALtex™ Acoustic fabric is B-s1,d0 certified, which means it offers excellent fire resistance. It emits almost no smoke and does not produce flaming droplets, thereby minimizing risks in the event of a fire. This level of safety is important both in public spaces and in your home, ensuring reliable protection without compromising acoustic quality.
Yes, SWALtex™ Acoustic is designed to fit even in spaces with low ceilings. The system requires very little headroom (minimum clearance of 10 mm) while still providing effective sound absorption. This makes it an ideal solution for small rooms or renovations where it is important not to lose any usable headroom.
Yes, the SWALtex™ Acoustic ceiling is removable. This means you can remove a section of the fabric to access cables, spotlights, or access panels located above, and then put it back in place without damaging the material or losing tension. This feature greatly facilitates technical work and prevents the need for major or costly repairs later on.
