What printing techniques are available for custom stretched canvas?

Sublimation, UV, latex... discover the solutions best suited to your project.

Digital printing on stretched canvas is based on three technologies suited to decorative and architectural projects: sublimation, UV, and latex. Each process is chosen according to the type of canvas and the desired finish.
  • Sublimation: ideal for polyester textiles, this method offers excellent color stability and perfect integration of the ink into the fiber.
  • UV: direct printing with UV light polymerization, suitable for specific substrates and intense flat colors.
  • Latex: technology based on water-based, solvent-free inks that are environmentally friendly and guarantee good durability indoors.

These techniques enable printing on wall canvases, stretch ceilings, acoustic panels, or backlit solutions, while maintaining their technical properties. Printing is carried out on large-format machines capable of producing surfaces up to 5 meters wide without seams.

The selected inks ensure excellent durability and resistance suitable for indoor use. The aim is to achieve a lasting aesthetic finish without altering the acoustic performance or tension of the fabric.

Color management is a key step. ICC profiles are applied, and tests are carried out to ensure color accuracy. Samples are printed to check density, contrast, and color matching before the final proof is approved. Once approved, large-format printing can begin. The canvas strips are printed continuously, with constant monitoring.

Rigorous quality control follows this stage to check sensitive areas, color consistency, and compliance with expected dimensions. Finally, the strips are cut with precision, incorporating the necessary margins for installation, as well as markings to facilitate on-site installation. Each roll is carefully packaged, labeled, and prepared by construction site so that it is ready to be installed in the best possible conditions.

Preparing your print file: key rules and tips.

Suitable format, rotating edge, guaranteed accurate rendering.

To ensure accurate rendering and avoid delays during production, it is essential to prepare a print file that complies with technical requirements. The preferred formats are PDF and TIFF, which ensure optimal compatibility.

The file scale should correspond to the actual size (1:1) whenever possible. If the file size becomes too large, a reduced scale such as 1:10 or 1:20 can be used, ensuring that sufficient resolution is maintained. A minimum resolution of 300 dpi at actual size is required to ensure optimal print quality, even in large format.

It is important to allow for a turning edge, generally between 5 and 10 cm, to allow for flexibility during installation and to prevent important elements from being cut or positioned in areas of tension. Critical areas such as logos, text, or faces should be placed outside the installation margins.

If adjustments are necessary, the studio adapts the files to match the exact dimensions and specificities of the project. It also prepares technical safety margins and reference points to facilitate on-site installation. Once these checks have been completed, a digital proof is produced and submitted for approval. This crucial step allows the customer to confirm the final result before printing begins.
