SWALtex™ Acoustic
Why choose an acoustic stretch ceiling?
An effective, discreet, and durable installation for optimal sound comfort every day.
An acoustic ceiling is a system designed to improve sound comfort by absorbing some of the airborne sound circulating in a room. Unlike a :link1[traditional stretch ceiling] or a plasterboard ceiling, which reflects sound waves, an acoustic stretch ceiling absorbs them partially or completely, depending on the materials used.
The SWALtex™ Acoustic system falls into this category: it combines a cold-stretched micro-perforated fabric with acoustic insulation concealed behind it, to effectively treat sound without compromising the aesthetics of the space.
In a room without acoustic treatment, sounds bounce off the walls, floor, and ceiling, creating an echo effect. Acoustic ceilings help mitigate these phenomena by absorbing sound reflections from the top of the room, where volumes are often the most complex to correct.
- where people talk, work, or relax
- where sound quality is essential (offices, homes, restaurants, classrooms, etc.)

Noise is a major source of stress and fatigue, whether in the workplace or at home. An acoustically poorly treated environment can quickly become annoying, even harmful.
In offices and open-plan workspaces, sounds from conversations, electronic devices, and movement travel easily. This disrupts concentration, reduces productivity, and increases feelings of fatigue. An acoustic ceiling such as SWALtex™ Acoustic reduces these disturbances by limiting sound reverberation, creating a quieter and more pleasant working environment.
At home, poor acoustics can complicate conversations, reduce the quality of rest, and increase stress. Speech becomes less clear, background noise is amplified, and loud noises resonate longer. Installing an acoustic ceiling promotes a peaceful and friendly atmosphere, ideal for living rooms or bedrooms.
Beyond comfort, good acoustic treatment also improves safety: clear audibility of warning sounds is essential in schools, hospitals, and nurseries. SWALtex™ Acoustic therefore meets a real need: to create spaces where acoustics support well-being, concentration, and communication.
The SWALtex™ Acoustic system has been tested in the laboratory to measure its effectiveness in absorbing sound under various conditions.
The absorption curve opposite represents the sound absorption coefficient (αs) as a function of sound frequencies, expressed in Hertz (Hz) with SWAL™ acoustic treatment. This coefficient, which varies between 0 and 1, indicates the ceiling's ability to absorb sound waves:
-
A value close to 1 means maximum absorption, so the sound is almost entirely absorbed.
With an αw rating of up to 1.00, SWALtex™ Acoustic ensures optimal absorption, effectively reducing reverberation and improving acoustic comfort in professional and residential spaces. This overall performance guarantees better sound quality and a more pleasant atmosphere on a daily basis.

SWALtex™ Acoustic
An acoustic ceiling that adapts to your desires and constraints
The SWALtex™ Acoustic ceiling goes far beyond simple sound performance. It offers customization and integration options designed to meet all needs, whether you are a professional or a private individual.
Thanks to digital printing on canvas, you can create a unique ceiling that reflects your personal style or your company's visual identity. This customization preserves the acoustic efficiency of the ceiling while transforming the space into an aesthetic and welcoming place. Whether in a modern office, a restaurant, a waiting room, or in your living room or bedroom, this ceiling becomes a real decorative asset.
The backlighting option provides soft, even lighting, ideal for creating a warm and soothing atmosphere. It is perfect for both living spaces and professional environments, promoting well-being and conviviality. Imagine a living room or meeting room bathed in diffused light that highlights the texture of the ceiling while ensuring optimal acoustic comfort.
Finally, SWALtex™ Acoustic easily incorporates essential technical elements such as recessed spotlights, ventilation grilles, and access hatches. This modularity guarantees a functional, attractive ceiling that is perfectly suited to the constraints of homes, offices, schools, hotels, and healthcare facilities.
The SWALtex™ Acoustic ceiling is based on a simple but effective principle, combining several layers to optimize sound absorption. Installation begins with the attachment of solid [perimeter profiles] to the existing ceiling or walls. These profiles form a precise frame that will support the stretched fabric.
Behind the fabric, acoustic batting is installed in the space between the existing structure and the fabric, called the plenum. This plenum is an essential technical space where sound, once it has passed through the micro-perforated fabric, is “trapped” in the batting. The batting acts like an acoustic sponge: it absorbs sound frequencies, preventing waves from bouncing back and creating reverberation.
The micro-perforated fabric, cold-stretched over the profiles, allows sound waves to pass through to the fleece while providing a smooth, attractive surface visible from the room. This three-layer system (profiles, plenum with fleece, fabric) provides effective noise absorption across the entire audible frequency range, reducing echoes and improving sound quality.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, SWALtex™ Acoustic fabric is B-s1,d0 certified, which means it is highly fire resistant. It emits almost no smoke and does not produce flaming droplets, which limits the risks in the event of a fire. This level of safety is important both in public places and in your home, guaranteeing reliable protection without compromising acoustic quality.
Yes, SWALtex™ Acoustic is designed to fit even in spaces with low ceilings. The system requires very little space above (minimum 0.4 in. clearance), while providing effective sound absorption. This makes it an ideal solution for small rooms or renovations where it is important not to lose usable height.
Yes, the SWALtex™ Acoustic ceiling can be dismantled. This means that you can remove part of the fabric to access cables, spotlights, or access panels located above, then put it back in place without damaging the material or losing tension. This feature greatly facilitates technical work and avoids heavy or costly work later on.
